Adobe Illustrator

Bowles, Melanie & Isaac, Ceri. (2009, p.24) have provided information about Adobe Illustrator they both acknowledged that ' Illustrator creates a graphic image from a series of points, lines, curves and shapes. Sophisticated and high-quality artwork and graphics can be created with the wide range of drawing tools on offer...an image is created scaled indefinitely without degradation. It is possible to design solely using either Photoshop or Illustrator, or to work between the two-either way, they offer a perfect toolkit for textile design...the digital stylus pen has also given fluidity to the action of drawing with the computer so that it is now more akin to drawing by hand'.

They also identified that these tools were originally designed for the graphic industry and that 'these tools are now leading textile designers along different avenues of creativity and extending the range of design possibilities available to them...working within a digital enviroment has speeded up this task. This allows more time for experimentation and exploration...freeing up the designer's imagination...THESE PROGRAMS ARE NOW RECOGNISED AS STANDARD TOOLS FOR TEXTILE DESIGNERS, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU ACQUIRE THE SKILLS TO USE THEM WITH CONFIDENCE...PERSERVERANCE WILL LEAD TO BEING ABLE TO USE THEM INTUITIVELY, MAKING THEM JUST AS IMPORTANT AS PAINT AND BRUSHES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN'.
